It is safe to say that Luka Doncic has been as advertised since the Los Angeles Lakers acquired him from the Dallas Mavericks over a year ago. In his first full season in L.A., Doncic is leading the league in scoring with 32.8 points and third in assists with 8.6.<\/p>\n

Despite injuries riddling this Lakers squad, they have kept themselves in the mix for home-court advantage in a loaded Western Conference. That is a testament to Doncic’s play, as well as his teammates stepping up when he has been out of the lineup.<\/p>\n

The All-Star break could not have come at a better time, allowing everyone to get healthy and regroup mentally for what looks to be another frantic race for playoff seeding. Before that, Doncic is set to make his sixth All-Star appearance, his first with the Lakers and he is feeling blessed ahead of Sunday.<\/p>\n

“Every All-Star, just blessed,” the Lakers star said at All-Star Media Day. “I’m going to look back at it. I’m a six-time All-Star now, and not everybody can say they’re an All-Star. So just take everything into the moment and enjoy this.”<\/p>\n

With All-Star Weekend getting a bad rap over the last few years, the All-NBA guard still enjoys playing alongside and against the league’s best talents.<\/p>\n

“I would just say the game,” Doncic said when asked what he is looking forward to most. “You know, playing with the best, the best guys in the world. You know, just being there, like I said, taking the moment in and just enjoy it.”<\/p>\n

Before the break, Doncic experienced an injury scare with a hamstring strain that forced him to miss the final four games, but although he is expected to return after the break<\/a>. <\/p>\n

In fact, Luka is feeling good enough to play in Sunday’s All-Star Game, although his minutes will be limited.<\/p>\n

“I feel pretty good,” he said. “You know, I’ve been working to get back. Obviously wanted to play the last game, but it wasn’t possible. I was almost there, so I think I’ll play a little bit.<\/p>\n

It helps that the festivities are in Los Angeles at Intuit Dome, so there is no need to travel far distances to participate. Many more All-Star appearances are expected to follow for Doncic as a member of the Lakers, but his first in purple and gold will be worth remembering.<\/p>\n

Luka Doncic & LeBron James like Lakers’ roster<\/h2>\n

To begin the 2025-26 season, the Lakers were turning heads with a 12-4 start and Luka Doncic playing at a MVP level. The tide has turned unfortunately and Los Angeles has been hovering around .500 ever since December.<\/p>\n

As a crucial back half of the season looming, Doncic and LeBron James like their team, but they both know that they have to grow organically<\/a> if they want a chance to compete come April. <\/p>\n
